A Call For Artists

Sculpture in the Hills is now accepting applications and submissions for this year's outdoor sculpture show. All interested artists are encouraged to present their work to be juried into this exciting new exhibition in Western Massachusetts. This year's guest juror is Ute Stebich of the Ute Stebich Gallery, Lenox, MA.

Sculpture in the Hills is an outdoor sculpture exhibition located in Cummington, Mass.

The site of the show is the Potash Hill Community of the Arts, which is located on the grounds of the former Cummington Community of the Arts and The Cummington School of the Arts. Cummington is a historic hilltown of the Connecticut Valley, in the foothills of the Berkshires, just one half hour drive to Tanglewood, MASS MOCA, Lenox, and Northampton.

This year's exhibition will be installed from July through September, and is free and open to the public. The work is displayed in various location over 10 acres of fields, woods and paths. The sculptures may be of any scale and may be studio work or site specific installations. There is also an opportunity for a short residency for interested artists. APPLICATION: This year's sculptors will be chosen by jury. To be considered you must submit the following: a set of four to eight slides of your work, a brief artists bio, and a $10 application fee. Please indicate which of the sculptures presented are available for the show. You may submit drawings or written descriptions describing a work in progress or plans for a site specific work, but all applications need to include at least four current slides.

Applications are due May 8 and must include a $10 jury fee. Please include a SASE if you would like your application materials returned.

All sculptures are to be delivered and installed in the first two weeks of June. The artist is expected to help install his/her work. Likewise, the artist is expected to help remove the work at the end of the show.

The artwork need not be for sale; however we ask that artists who choose to price a piece donate 10% of any sale to Sculpture in the Hills to help defray the cost of the show. The organizers of the exhibition do not gain any profit from this project .
